U.S. Prepares New Attack On Cuba: Canada Must Uphold the Right of Self-Determination! Print E-mail

-Isaac Saney, CNC Spokesperson, November 10, 2021-

On November 15th a series of U.S. orchestrated and financed provocations are planned against Cuba with the explicit aim of subverting the island’s constitutional order, so as to create a pretext for the intensification of the U.S. economic war and justify possible military intervention. The Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC) denounces Washington’s campaign of destabilization and subversion against the sovereign government of Cuba. These efforts to bring about so-called “regime change” are a flagrant, blatant, and unconscionable violation of the right of self-determination of the people of Cuba.

A Statement from the YCL - MB

Cuba has a proud history of resistance to foreign occupation and interference. Leaders like Carlos Manuel de Cespedes and Jose Marti strove to achieve the independence and self-determination that the Cuban people deserve, as do all peoples in the world. This tradition and impulse continued in various forms culminating in 1959 with the success of the revolution led by Fidel Castro. Faced with this success for the ordinary people of the island the US Empire, keen to maintain access to Cuba's resources and domination of the western hemisphere (particularly in the context of the Cold War with the USSR) instituted the blockade and embargo.

Petition Against the U.S. War on Cuba Relaunched Print E-mail

The parliamentary petition (e-3640) against the U.S. War on and Economic Blockade of Cuba is now open for signatures.

It calls on the Government of Canada to take specific steps in opposing U.S. attacks on the heroic island nation.

To sign the petition, go to: https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Sign/e-3640

It also calls on the Government of Canada to ensure that Ottawa's policy and relations with Cuba do not mirror or follow Washington's diktat.

The petition initiated by the Canadian Network On Cuba is sponsored by Niki Ashton, member of Canada's parliament for the federal constituency of Churchill—Keewatinook Aski in the province of Manitoba. It builds on the success of the previous petition (e-3456) during the last parliamentary session when 3,375 citizens and residents of Canada emphatically demanded an end to the U.S. economic siege and of Cuba.
