CNC Responds to Canadian Government on Visa Services for Cubans Print E-mail
The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau Prime Minister of Canada

Dear Prime Minister,

Re: Reply by S. Charbonneau, Ministerial Enquiries Division regarding the processing of applications for citizens of Cuba [Reply by S. Charbonneau pasted below]

I am writing in response to the letter I received via email on On October 1, 2019 from S. Charbonneau, Ministerial Enquiries Division in the Ministry of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The letter was in direct response - at the request of your office - to one of the questions posed to you in your capacity as Prime Minister of Canada and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada in An Open Letter to Party Leaders in the 2019 Federal Election of Canada, sent to you on September 22, 2019.

On behalf of the Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC), I inquired: "whether you and your party will support the Government of Canada fully reopening the IRCC Office and all visa services offered to Cubans in Havana, Cuba, so that visa processing may proceed in a reasonable manner?"

The World Stands With Cuba! Down with the US Economic Blockade of Cuba! Print E-mail
-Isaac Saney, CNC Spokesperson, October 27, 2019-

For the 28th successive year on November 7th, 2019, the international community will resoundingly reject Washington’s economic war against revolutionary Cuba and its heroic people when the United Nations General Assembly votes on the resolution, Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial and Financial Embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba. Just a year ago, on November 1st, 2018 by a vote of 189 to 2, the nations of the world massively repudiated U.S. economic aggression against Cuba.

Dear Madam:

On November 6th and 7th, 2019, and for the 28th time, Cuba will denounce at the United Nations the 57 year old economic and financial blockade imposed on the island on 1962 by the United States of America. The world will be watching again as their representatives declare their repulsion to this policy.

The Associations of Cubans Resident in Canada are proud that the Canadian Government has traditionally voted against this obsolete and failed attempt of the U.S. to resolve its diferendo with Cuba by punishing its people, which has suffered severely and has been deprived of its right to a better quality of life for more than half a century now.

Re: Canada-Cuba Relations

I am writing to you on behalf of the Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC), which represents Canada-Cuba friendship and solidarity organizations across Canada, ranging from Vancouver to Halifax and with over 50,000 in membership. One of the CNC’s principal objectives is advocating that Canadian foreign policy regarding Cuba remains based on equality and respect for sovereignty and the right of selfdetermination. Consequently, the CNC is deeply concerned by recent decisions and actions of the Government of Canada. Canadians are very worried that recent developments in Ottawa-Havana relations could lead to the mirroring of the policy of the United States.

While the Amazon Burns, Cuba Increases its Forested Area Print E-mail
As fires rage across the Amazon in South America, a result of exploitation by agro-capitalists, Cuba has actually increased the percentage of its country covered by forest in the past year. A report published on Wednesday by Cuban media outlet Granma, reports the increase in forested area and examines how state environmental policies achieved it. The report also illustrates how today, Cuba’s forested area has almost tripled in the socialist period since 1959, despite mass deforestation in every other part of the world.
