The Cuban Five were fighting terrorism. Why did we put them in jail? Print E-mail

Consider for a moment what would happen if American intelligence agents on the ground in a foreign country uncovered a major terrorist plot, with enough time to prevent it. And then consider how Americans would react if authorities in that country, rather than cooperate with us, arrested and imprisoned the U.S. agents for operating on their soil.

Canadian Embassy in Havana designated ‘unaccompanied post’ Print E-mail

The Government of Canada has made a decision to appoint its embassy in Havana as a mission without accompanying family members, as a result, as has been stated, of the symptoms of health involvement reported by some of its diplomats in 2017.

Guided by the mandate bestowed by the people of Cuba, the National Assembly will initiate a new stage in the history of the Cuban Revolution and the Cuban nation. With the election of a new president and Council of State, the revolutionary torch will be passed from the historic generation that made the Cuban Revolution to the new generations born during and within the revolution.

Today, November 25th, 2017, marks one year since Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, took his physical leave from us.  As he desired and wished no statues have been erected in his honour; no streets, buildings or plazas carry his name.

Donations for Cuba Print E-mail

Dear friends,

I have received today this query from our faithful friend in Winnipeg, Diane Zack.  I thank her for giving me permission to reply to it in a letter that is open to all members of the Canadian Network on Cuba.

Some long-time supporters of Cuba, said they preferred to give their money to Oxfam as the Canadian government matched the funds raised and Oxfam has a long-standing relationship with Cuba and has been involved in many worthwhile reconstruction projects there in the past. They are also able to issue tax receipts. Assuming that you are aware of their work and credentials, I wanted to ask why we don't direct some of our monies raised to them. Other supporters have asked about this also.
