The Return of The Five to Cuba Demanded from Greece

HAVANA, Cuba, June 11 (acn) In a letter to US President Barack Obama, some 20 Greek university professors, scientists and politicians demanded the immediate return to Cuba of the Five Heroes, condemned in Miami for monitoring the activities of terrorist groups.

Nikos Houdis, deputy of the European Parliament, and Kostas Isyjos, head of Foreign Policy of the Radical Left Coalition, are among those who denounce the arbitrary acts committed against these patriots.

Raul Castro Held Talks with General Secretary of Spain´s Communist Party

HAVANA, Cuba, June 11 (ACN)—Raul Castro, first secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party Central Committee held talks on Saturday with Jose Luis Centella, general secretary of Spain’s Communist Party and spokesperson for the United Left at the Spanish Congress.

During the meeting, the top Communist leaders exchanged views on different issues of interest for their political organizations and they agreed to keep strengthening fraternal relations between both Communist parties, Granma daily newspaper reported.

Obama Asked to Use his Power and Release the Cuban Five

HAVANA, Cuba, June 5 (acn) A change of the US policy towards Cuba begins with President Barack Obama using his constitutional power and returning The Five to their homeland, asserted Graciela Ramirez, coordinator of the International Committee for the Freedom of The Five.

In an exclusive interview with ACN, Ramirez stressed that today there’s a permanent international campaign with that demand, a request of world solidarity, and of leaders, parliamentarians, organizations and important figures of society.

Gerardo Hernandez, Birthday behind Bars

HAVANA, Cuba, June 4 (ACN)—Gerardo Hernandez, one of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters held in US prisons since 1998 turns 47 years old on Monday in a cell of the California-based Victorville federal prison.

On the occasion of Hernadez’s birthday, his countryman, Antonio Guerrero—also serving an unfair sentence in Florida’s Mariana federal prison-- denounced the unjust incarceration of his compatriot, in a letter published on Cubadebate website.

National Convention of Solidarity with Cuba in Brazil

Salvador, Brazil. - The struggle being waged for the freedom of the five antiterrorist Cubans unjustly imprisoned in the US and for the lifting of the US blockade on Cuba, were two main topics that were broached in the National Convention of Solidarity with Cuba held in Brazil, that came to an end last Sunday, May 27th, by Kenia Serrano, President of The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), as its acronym in Spanish language.
