Hemingway On Stage:
In Deadly Ernest

A Fundraiser for Haiti Medical Relief
Thursday June 2, 2011
7:30 pm

Winchevsky Centre
585 Cranbrooke Ave.
(4 blocks N. of Lawrence, E. of Bathurst)

“Great entertainment and with a good sense of humour! -even if you don’t like Hemingway!”

Don’t miss Toronto’s only performance of In Deadly Ernest. All funds raised from this exciting performance will go to the Cuba for Haiti Campaign, which supports the important work of the Cuban medical relief workers in Haiti.

IN DEADLY ERNEST is the final installment of the seven-play collection known as Hemingway On Stage. The play investigates Hemingway’s completion of The Old Man and the Sea, a near death experience in Africa and the awarding of both the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. The play concludes with an exploration of Hemingway’s deteriorating health, and finally, his death after treatment at the Mayo Clinic. Although serious, these events are interspersed with humour and revelations about a truly extraordinary life.

Brian Gordon Sinclair, author of Hemingway On Stage, is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and holds a Master of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Denver. He has also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England and at the National Film Board of Canada. Sinclair has just finished a seven-play series, Hemingway On Stage: The Road to Freedom. The first six plays have premiered at the Hemingway Days Festival in Key West, Florida and the seventh play of the series is being prepared for Museo Hemingway in Havana Cuba later this year. A recipient of the Sir Tyrone Guthrie Award for acting at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Mr. Sinclair has performed in Cuba, Denmark, England, Holland, Norway, Poland, Spain and the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia. He is now Artistic Director of Ontario’s “Children of Erin” Theatre Company.
